Meeting with the Global Director for the World Bank Group’s Water Global Practice

The meeting of the Chairman of the Executive Committee of IFAS, Mr. Sulton Rahimzoda, with the Global Director for the World Bank Group’s Water Global Practice, Mr. Saroj Kumar Jha, took place on 15 February as part of the Kick-off Meeting for the 10th World Water Forum in Jakarta.

At the meeting, issues of interaction between IFAS and the World Bank in various areas of cooperation were discussed. In particular, the parties exchanged views on the preparation and holding of a high-level joint event on the obligations of Central Asia on the sidelines of the UN 2023 Water Conference in New York, the implementation of ongoing and planned projects at the regional level, including the ongoing work within the framework of the IFAS reform, preparations for the International Conference dedicated to the 30th anniversary of IFAS, which will be held on 5-7 June in Dushanbe, and the upcoming IFAS Summit in Dushanbe.

Sulton Rahimzoda expressed his gratitude to the World Bank for the support provided to the countries of the region, both within the framework of IFAS and on a bilateral basis, in their efforts to achieve sustainable development.He also stressed the importance of ongoing work to improve the organizational structure and legal framework of IFAS under the CAWEP program administered by the World Bank.

The parties were unanimous in their opinion that it is necessary to speed up the completion of this process, and the IFAS Summit in Dushanbe provides a good opportunity to decide on the results achieved.Sulton Rahimzoda invited Mr. Saroj Kumar Jha to take part in the International Conference dedicated to the 30th anniversary of in June this year.
