Discussion of issues of cooperation between the Executive Committee of IFAS and international development partners

In order to strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation and attract the attention of international development partners to the anniversary events that are planned in 2023 on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of IFAS, from 15 to 27 January 2023, meetings were held between the Chairman of the Executive Committee of IFAS, Mr. Sulton Rahimzoda, with donors and development partners.

Mr. Rahimzoda had a virtual and in-person meeting with Mr. Ozan Sevimli – World Bank Country Manager for Tajikistan, Mr. Lenny Montiel – UNDP Resident Representative in Tajikistan, Mr. Peter Riley – USAID Mission Director in Tajikistan, Ms. Caroline Milow – Director of the GIZ regional Programme “Green Central Asia, Ms. Terhi Hakala – EU Special Representative for Central Asia, Ms. Ekaterina Strikeleva – Chief of Party – USAID Water and Vulnerable Environment Activity implemented by Tetra Tech ARD Corporation.

At the meetings, the plans of the Executive Committee of IFAS for 2023 and a number of priority areas of cooperation with partners for this year were discussed. Particular emphasis was placed on strengthening cooperation in the implementation of the Plan for organizing and holding anniversary events dedicated to the 30th anniversary of IFAS approved by the President of IFAS, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, H.E Emomali Rahmon, and the importance of the participation and contribution of development partners in this process.

Mr. Rahimzoda provided information on the holding by the Executive Committee of IFAS of the Special High-Level Session on Central Asia within the framework of the UN 2023 Water Conference, which will be held on 22-24 March 2023 in New York, and the process of preparing for the International Conference dedicated to the 30th anniversary of IFAS, which is scheduled for June 2023 in Dushanbe.The initiative to hold festive events on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the IFAS in the countries of Central Asia was supported by development partners. They expressed their willingness to support and participate in the preparatory process and in the events themselves.

Development partners also noted the role of IFAS in solving water problems in the region and strengthening partnerships between the governments of countries with development partners, and also emphasized their readiness for further fruitful cooperation in the above areas.
