Participation of the Deputy Chairman of EC IFAS at the second Asian International Water Week

On 15 of March 2022 the Deputy Chairman of the Executive Committee of IFAS, Mr. Sharofiddinov Husniddin made a presentation on the topic “Latest Progress in the activities under the umbrella of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea” at the second Asian International Water Week entitled “Sustainable, clean and sufficient water for all” virtually.

In his presentation, Mr. Husniddin Sharofidinov noted the important steps and priority areas of activity of IFAS at the national and international levels during the chairmanship of the Republic of Tajikistan.

In the presentation, special attention was paid to the Aral Sea Basin Program – 4 (ASBP-4), approved by the decision of the IFAS Board in June 2021 in Dushanbe. The main objectives of the ASBP-4 are to improve the living conditions and well-being of the population living in the Aral Sea basin, further, expand and strengthen cooperation between the countries of Central Asia in improving the water management, environmental and socio-economic situation, rational use of water resources and adaptation to climate change.

It was noted that the implementation of ASBP-4 also contributes to the creation of a comprehensive economic basis for regional cooperation on water resources.

The second Asian International Water Week is organized by the Indonesian Ministry of Public Works and Housing in cooperation with the Asian Water Council and was held from 14 to 16 March 2022.
