On 5 December 2023 in Dubai, UAE, the Chairman of the Executive Committee of IFAS Mr. Sulton Rahimzoda, took part and spoke at the side event “Team Europe Initiative on Water, Energy and Climate Change in Central Asia”.
The side event was organized by the Regional Environmental Center for Central Asia jointly with the European Union at the Central Asia Pavilion on the sidelines of COP 28 as part of the Team Europe Initiative on Water, Energy and Climate Change in Central Asia. This Central Asia initiative builds on the shared commitment of the European Union and Central Asian countries to promote a sustainable and equitable blue and green transition.
The side event discussed how to improve the regionally integrated water and energy management system to strengthen the transition to a green economy, promote food security, growth and sustainable development in the region, and increase green investments. During the thematic discussion, new opportunities for EU support in confronting the challenges of climate change in Central Asia were discussed.
The side event was also attended by Stefano Signore- Head of Climate Change and Sustainable Energy, Directorate General for International Partnerships, European Commission, Tatyana Proskuryakova – Regional Director for Central Asia of the World Bank, Jochen Flasbarth – State Secretary of the German Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development and other high-ranking officials.
