On 10 May 2023, the 84th meeting of the Interstate Commission for Water Coordination of Central Asia was held in Dushanbe.
The meeting was chaired by Mr. Shoimzoda J., First Deputy Minister of Energy and Water Resources of the Republic of Tajikistan. Members of the ICWC Mr. Khamraev Sh. – Minister of Water Resources of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Mr. Azidullin G. – Vice Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Mr. Gendzhiev D. – Chairman of the State Committee for Water Resources of Turkmenistan, as well as representatives of the Central Asian countries, heads, and representatives of the ICWC executive bodies.
The meeting was also attended by the Chairman of the Executive Committee of IFAS, Mr. Sulton Rahimzoda, who informed the participants about the progress of the events dedicated to the 30th anniversary of IFAS, the progress in improving the organizational structure and legal framework of IFAS and invited everyone to take part in the International Conference dedicated to the 30th anniversary of IFAS, which will be held from 5 to 7 June this year in Dushanbe.
During the meeting, questions were discussed on the results of the use of limits and modes of operation of reservoirs for the inter-vegetation of 2022-2023. on the Syrdarya and Amudarya river basins, on the approval of water withdrawal limits of countries and the predicted operation of reservoir cascades for the growing season of 2023 on the Syrdarya and Amudarya rivers basins, on the progress of work on the implementation of proposals and initiatives announced at the Council of the Heads of Founding States of IFAS in Turkmenbashi. Following the results of the meeting, the Protocol was signed.
