Participation of the Chairman of EC IFAS at the session “Bottom-up approaches to building resilience, adaptive capacity, and financing in water in Asia and the Pacific”

On 8 November 2022, the Water Pavilion hosted a session on the topic: “Bottom-up approaches to building resilience, adaptive capacity, and financing in water in Asia and the Pacific”, which was organized by the Asian Development Bank together with other partners.

The meeting discussed funding needs and innovative approaches identified at the local level to address existing problems in the water sector and ensure water security. The session focused on what worked and what didn’t work and what needs to be done or adjusted to mobilize more funding for sustainable development goals related to water and sanitation to meet climate change adaptation needs.

During the session, a new Asia-Pacific Water Sustainability Initiative was announced and the Water Sustainability Trust Fund was launched.The Chairman of the Executive Committee of IFAS, Mr. Sulton Rahimzoda, also took part in the session and made a speech. In his presentation, he touched on the financial gap and the many potential benefits of financing in the water sector.

In addition, information was provided on the UN 2023 Water Conference with a focus on the Global SDG 6 Accelerator Framework, in particular on the global financing accelerator.
