On 29 August 2022, World Water Week stated it’s work in Stockholm, Sweden. It is organized by the Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI) annually.
The theme of this year’s World Water Week is “Seeing the Unseen: The Value of Water” with a focus on different aspects of water, how others view and value water, and exploring the full value of water to society.
For the first time, the conference will be hybrid, allowing delegates to join online and in person in Stockholm.This week brings together experts, professionals, innovators, entrepreneurs, academia, industries and countries to develop solutions to water-related issues.
As part of the World Water Week, the IFAS Executive Committee organizes an exhibition stand of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea. The IFAS exhibition stand demonstrates the problems of the drying up of the Aral Sea, the impact of climate change on the melting of glaciers, which are the main sources of water resources in the Central Asian region, as well as the measures taken by the countries of the region to address water, environmental and socio-economic issues.
Also, within the framework of the World Water Week on 31 August 2022, the Executive Committee of IFAS plans to hold a special session entitled “Seeing the invisible: the value of water in the development of regional cooperation in Central Asia”.
