On 28 February 2022, a meeting was held in Dushanbe between the Chairman of the Executive Committee of IFAS, Mr. Sulton Rahimzoda, and the Ambassador of Canada to Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, and Tajikistan, Mr. Alan Hamson.
During the meeting, priority areas of cooperation between the Executive Committee of IFAS and Canada were discussed, including through the participation of the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) in the implementation of the projects of the Action Program to Assist the Countries of the Aral Sea Basin (ASBP-4).
The parties also discussed issues of cooperation in the field of climate change and glaciology. In this context, attention was paid to the new initiative of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, President of IFAS H.E. Emomoli Rahmon on the announcement of 2025 as the International Year for Preservation of Glaciers.
Within the framework of the meeting, the parties also discussed the participation of the Canadian side at the Second High-level International Conference on the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development, 2018-2028, which will be held from 6 to 9 of June 2022 in Dushanbe.
