Participation of the Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, President of IFAS, H.E. Emomali Rahmon at the briefing of the High-Level Panel on Water and Climate within the framework of COP-26

Within the framework of the 26th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP-26)On 2 of November 2021 a briefing was held by the Leaders of the High-Level Panel on Water and Climate under the title “Commitment to the Global Water Climate Agenda”.

At this briefing, the Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, President of IFAS, respected Emomali Rahmon, in his video message recalled the consequences of climate change, including melting of glaciers, lack of access to clean water, the reasons of the rising of temperature and its consequences, increasing frequency of hydrometeorological emergencies such as mudflows, floods, droughts, landslides and avalanches, the international community to take timely action.

The leader in this territory gave a new impetus to increase the world community in this direction.Given the intense melting of the glaciers in many regions of the world, the Leader of nation proposed an initiative to declare 2025 the International Year for the Glaciers Preservation, which is designed to give a new impetus to unite the efforts of the world community in this direction.Also, at the event were the President of Hungary, H.E. Mr. János Áder, Secretary General of the World Meteorological Organization, H.P. Mr. Petteri Taalas; World Bank Managing Director of Development Policy and Partnerships, H.E. Ms. Marie Pangestu and other dignitaries.
