Cooperation of the Central Asian countries with the Green Climate Fund was discussed at the side event “Central Asia: Regional Approach to working with the Green Climate Fund”, which took place on 3 of November 2021 at the Central Asia Pavilion within the framework of COP26.
The possibility of attracting financial resources from the Green Climate Fund for the implementation of ASBP-4 projects at this event was noted by the Chairman of the Executive Committee of IFAS, Mr. Sulton Rahimzoda.
In particular, the Chairman noted that ASBP-4 is a regional program approved by the IFAS Board in June of the current year with the aim of attracting financial resources for the implementation of regional and national projects to achieve integrated use and protection of water resources, environmental recovery and socio-economic development of the Aral Sea basin. It was also emphasized that the development of this program based on national consultations, considering the nexus approach and regional coverage of projects are in accordance with the requirements of the Green Climate Fund, and this can serve as a good basis for supporting their implementation through funding from this Fund.
The side event was also attended by representatives of national authorized bodies of Central Asian countries, executive agencies, donor countries, international financial institutions, and other stakeholders.
