On 1 of November 2021, the 26th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Climate Change Conference (COP-26) started its work in Glasgow, Scotland, Kingdom of Great Britain.

For the first time in the history of the COP, the Central Asia Pavilion was organized under the thesis “5 countries, 1 region, one vote.” The Central Asia Pavilion was organized by the Regional Environmental Center for Central Asia in cooperation with the IFAS Executive Committee and other partners in order to represent the Central Asian region in the global climate arena.

The Chairman of the IFAS Executive Committee, Mr. Sulton Rahimzoda made a welcoming speech at the Opening Ceremony of this Pavilion. He noted that the countries of Central Asia are very vulnerable to the impact of climate change, which is why Tajikistan, within the framework of its chairmanship in IFAS, has given this issue a special priority.

In this context, he noted the initiative of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, President of IFAS, respected Emomali Rahmon to declare 2025 the International Year for Glaciers Preservation, which is designed to give a new impetus to unite the efforts of the world community in this direction.
