Aral Sea Basin Program-4 (ASBP-4)

The ASBP-4 project was developed by the Executive Committee of IFAS, ICWC and ICSD with the involvement of national and international experts in accordance with the decision of the IFAS Board of January 30, 2018.

ASBP-4 is a regional program aimed at achieving of the integrated use and protection of water resources, ecological improvement and economic development of the Aral Sea basin, as well as improving the institutional mechanisms of IFAS.

The main objective of the ASBP-4 is to implement programs to overcome the Aral Sea crisis and strengthen cooperation through targeted actions at the national, regional and international levels.

 ASBP-4 includes 34 investment projects that will contribute to achieving water, environmental, food and energy security in Central Asia.

At the moment, ASBP-4 is under consideration of the IFAS founding states. Its approval by the countries and adoption by the IFAS Board is expected in the first half of 2021.

Implementation period for ASBP-4: 2021-2030.
