On 18 April 2023 in Dushanbe, a meeting was held between the Chairman of the Executive Committee of IFAS, Mr. Sulton Rahimzoda, and the Head of the Unit of Middle East and Central Asia, Directorate-General for International Partnerships of the European Union, Ms. Sarah Rinaldi.
At the meeting, the parties discussed issues of strengthening and expanding cooperation between the Executive Committee of IFAS and the European Union, including within the framework of the implementation of programs and projects included in ASBP-4, as well as the implementation progress and progress made in improving the organizational structure and legal framework of IFAS.
The parties also discussed cooperation in the implementation of the Plan for organizing and holding anniversary events dedicated to the 30th anniversary of IFAS, including holding the International Conference “Central Asia: “Central Asia: Towards sustainable future through strong regional institution” ” from 5 to 7 June 2023 in Dushanbe.
The Chairman of the Executive Committee of IFAS thanked the European Union for its continued support and invited them to take an active part in the upcoming events in 2023, including those dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Fund.
Ms. Sarah Rinaldi emphasized the active and important role of the EC IFAS in strengthening regional cooperation and solving water and environmental issues in Central Asia, as well as in promoting the region at the global level, as evidenced by the successful holding of a high-level event on Central Asia by the EC IFAS 23 March 2023 in New York as part of the UN 2023 Water Conference.
Ms. Rinaldi expressed the full readiness of the European Union to support the active work of the EC IFAS in all areas of activity at the global and regional levels, including the holding of the International Conference, which will be held from 5 to 7 June 2023 in Dushanbe.
