On 23 February 2022, in Rome, Italy, on the sidelines of the 7th EU-Central Asia High-Level Conference, a meeting was held between the Chairman of the Executive Committee of IFAS Mr. Sulton Rahimzoda with the Head of the Unit for Middle East and Central Asia Ms. Sarah Rinaldi.
The meeting was also attended by representatives of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Uzbekistan in EC IFAS Mr. Bekmaganbetov S and Mr. Juraev I.
During the meeting, the parties discussed a wide range of issues to expand and strengthen cooperation, including the implementation of programs and projects included in ASBP-4, as well as strengthening the work on monitoring and coordinating the activities of development partners in the implementation of this program.
The parties also discussed the implementation progress and the progress made in improving the organizational structure and legal framework of IFAS, issues of cooperation in holding a Special High-Level Session on Central Asia within the framework of the UN 2023 Water Conference, which will be held on 22-24 March, in New York, as well as the implementation of the Plan for organizing and holding anniversary events dedicated to the 30th anniversary of IFAS, including holding the International Conference dedicated to the 30th anniversary of IFAS in Dushanbe in June 2023.
The Chairman of the IFAS Executive Committee thanked the European Union for its constant support and invited to take an active part in the upcoming events in 2023, including those dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Foundation.In particular, a representative EU delegation is expected to participate in the UN 2023 Water Conference as well as in the work of the International Conference dedicated to the 30th anniversary of IFAS.It should be noted that the European colleagues confirmed their commitment to continue providing assistance in the implementation of the ASBP-4 projects.
