On 10 November in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, in the Tajikistan Pavilion, within the framework of the UNFCCC COP-27, a side-event “Young leaders of Central Asia on the way to carbon neutrality – implementation of the decisions of the UNFCCC COP-26” was held.
The side event brought together young people from the Central Asian region, civil society, youth networks, international organizations, decision-makers, and alumni of the Central Asian Leadership Program (CALP).
During the side event, a joint “Regional Conference of Youth on Climate Change in Central Asia to the participants of the 27th Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Climate Change (COP-27)” was announced. The Chairman of the Executive Committee of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea, Mr. Sulton Rahimzoda delivered a welcoming speech.
He noted that the entire initiative in solving climate change and water management issues will be concentrated in the hands of young people, and also stressed the importance of consolidating all measures to adapt to climate change and mitigate its consequences.
