Within the framework of the Second International High-Level Conference on the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development”, 2018-2028 on 8 June 2022, a meeting was held between the Chairman of the IFAS Executive Committee, Mr. Sulton Rahimzoda, and the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Central Asia, Ms. Natalia German.
The parties discussed the successful holding of the Forum “Water and Mountains on the Path to Sustainable Development”, which was organized by the UNRCCA jointly with UNESCO on 6 June of this year within the framework of the Conference.
The parties also discussed priority areas of cooperation between the IFAS Executive Committee and the UNRCCA, including within the framework of developing a Strategy for cooperation with Central Asia on water and climate change issues, attracting women to the water sector, as well as improving organizational structure and legal framework of IFAS.
During the meeting, the creation of a UN Working Group on the inventory of documents, provisions, and agreements was also discussed.
