On 17 May 2022, the meeting was held between the Chairman of the Executive Committee of IFAS Mr. Sulton Rahimzoda with the Program Manager of the Central Asian Water and Energy Program (CAWEP) of the World Bank Mr. William Young.
During the meeting, priority areas of cooperation between the Executive Committee of IFAS and the World Bank’s CAWEP Program were discussed, including the organization of the Forum on Regional Water Cooperation in Central Asia within the framework of the Second International High-Level Conference on the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development”, 2018-2028 which will be held from 6 to 9 June 2022 in Dushanbe.
It was noted that the Forum will become a unique platform for demonstrating and exchanging information about regional problems and achievements in the field of water resources management, and water cooperation, as well as demonstrating the efforts of the region to address environmental and climate change problems for the benefit of the people of Central Asia.
The parties also discussed issues of improving the organizational structure and contractual legal framework of the IFAS, supported by the CAWEP Program, as well as promoting the implementation of the projects of the Action Program for Assistance to the Countries of the Aral Sea Basin (ASBP-4).
