9th World Water Forum, Dakar, Senegal

On 21 of March 2022 the 9th World Water Forum started its work under the slogan “Water Security for Peace and Development” in Dakar, Senegal. The Forum was opened by the President of the Republic of Senegal – H.E. Mr. Macky Sall.

The forum is organized at the social, political and economic levels to create a platform that will act as a catalyst for action to accelerate universal access to water and sanitation, address global agenda issues and commitments related to the SDGs, the Water Decade, the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction, the Paris climate agreement, etc.

The forum also provides a platform for officials, representatives of the world’s governments, governmental and non-governmental organizations, international financial institutions and other stakeholders to exchange views on overcoming problems related to water supply, water resources management, climate change and sanitation.

It is important to emphasize that the 9th World Water Forum focuses on four priorities, including water security and sanitation, water for rural development, cooperation, tools and instruments;
