Within the framework of the Central Asian Sub-regional Preparatory Conference for the 9th World Water Forum “Water Security for Peace and Development”, the Executive Committee of IFAS and the Regional Environmental Center for Central Asia signed an Operational Agreement on additional financing for the implementation of the Regional Component of the Project “Climate Adaptation and Mitigation Program for Aral Sea Basin” (CAMP4ASB AF).
The IFAS Executive Committee implements the first component of the project, which aims to strengthen the knowledge base and capacity to combat climate change and promote regional dialogue and multistakeholder cooperation for an effective climate change response, and Sub-component 3.1, which performs the function of coordinating and supporting project implementation at the regional level. level with the support of the Central Asia Regional Environmental Center (CAREC).
Additional funding is carried out from the Green Climate Fund in the amount of US $ 1 million. As part of the implementation of this component, technical assistance will be provided in creating a unified regional analytical platform for ensuring climate-sustainable development in Central Asia, as well as the development of a number of tools for data visualization, obtaining new knowledge and strengthening the capacity for effective decision-making in the field of climate change.
The CAMP4ASB project consists of 3 components aimed at solving common problems and challenges associated with the impacts of climate change in Central Asian countries, providing technical assistance in creating a single regional analytical platform for ensuring climate-sustainable development of the region, promoting investment in rural production, land management resources; and increased access to improved knowledge and data on climate change.
